the simplest things

This morning we visited New Rags Market in Greytown. Lovely to stop at each stall and chat to the local crafting community. I purchased a little wooden wall sconce with a preserve jar vase.

I love the simplicity and rawness of the wood.

It sits nicely next to my chalkboard that was being thrown out of St Mary’s School a couple of years ago.

A little gypsophila cut from the garden was all it needed. Gentle and lovely.

  3. Thank you Sweet Mary. I do like a change every now and again.

Caroline – St Mary’s in Carterton? Well imagine that! On the reverse of the chalkboard is has musical staves. I wonder if you copied from this exact same board?

I love your wooden sconce. What size hose clamps do you recommend for the mason jars?

Hi Colleen. The small jam jar is held on with thick wire.

Is the thick wire screwed to the wood?

There is a hole in the wood and the wire is simply threaded through and twisted at the back. really easy and will take you minutes to do, I’m sure.
