the last of…

March in our little town sees the last of the roses around the porch…

…the last of the pears. The birds have pinched most of them – they’ve had a feast! Our sun scorched lawn is desperate for rain…

…the last of the agapanthus flowers – but aren’t the bare bones beautiful…

…the last of the sun? Hardly! Summer ended last month but still the skies are cloudless with wonderful heat…

…the last of the lemons, limes and tangelos in our citrus patch…

…but Autumn sees the first of our jalapeno chilli’s. The plant was given to us as a welcome to NZ gift by the owner of the local garden centre…

…the first delivery of logs ready for winter…

…and a first lunch date with a new friend – laughter, exchanging secrets, sharing stories, comparing lives…

Summer has been tough in a new country but I’m relieved to learn that Autumn brings me hope.

Until next time…

  1. I have been meaning to send you an e-mail back! It has been a tough summer for you, but I’m sure Autumn and Winter will be much easier.

    New hope indeed!
It is easy to under estimate the impact of letting go a past life style as we embrace the new, but your enthusiasm for nature, and your creativity will serve you well. The balance of what you have to give and what your new home has to offer provides a great match. Where you come from will always be a big part of you, but you are now a big part of your new life. Rejoice in that, the peole you touch do.

  3. How nice all that fruit is! Enjoy the fall, it is our favorite season in Maine.
