With Carterton having more creative residents pro rata than any other town in New Zealand, it really is an incredibly exciting place to be. It’s a small rural town with huge potential and right now the creative energy that seems to be bubbling just below the surface, in my opinion, is set to explode.
In September we would have been here for three years and throughout that time I’ve made some amazing friends and acquaintances, many of whom have a creative bent and are out there ‘doing their thing.’ One of those people is Lisa Harman who makes beautifully crafted jewellery, art, sculpture and gifts.

Like me, she works from a home studio and also has a shop where you can purchase her stunning designs.

If you’re wondering who Lily is, that’s her sitting on the cushion looking very regal!
To find out more about Lisa and her creative life then hop on over to her website and take a peek.

With Lisa just being down the road she passes her customers onto me and vice versa. It’s such a lovely way to do business and shows, I think, real community spirit which is one of the many reasons why Mr Tread Softly and I chose to hand craft our life here.
So, when you’re next visiting Wairarapa, stop off at Lisa + Lily’s(open Wednesday – Sunday 10am-4pm), and I guarantee, you won’t be disappointed.
Until next time..
what a beautiful shop! I must head over one day soon and check both your shops out. Such eye candy!
I driven past the sign on the Main Road a million times and I have never stopped – I must, I must, I must – looks wonderful xx
Hi Alison, your friend’s work is very lovely – especially love the red butterfly. How nice to live in such a creative town.
We continue to fry through the usual hot/humid Southern Summer – you are most likely keeping cool!
Off to the West on Friday – taking granddaughter to visit San Francisco, Yellowstone Natl. Park, the Grand Tetons Mts. in Wyoming, Salt Lake City, Utah and hopefully Montana. Two weeks on the road with awesome scenery.
